Research Associate (Ingenieur de Recherche) to Test a Gene Therapy for ALS/FTD (Paris, France)

A position for a research associate (ingénieur de recherche) is available in the research group of Maria Grazia Biferi and Martine Barkats at the Center of Research in Myology (Paris, France).

This position is part of a project that aims to test a novel gene therapy for the most common genetic form of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), caused by hexanucleotide repeats expansion in the C9orf72 gene. The therapeutic approach consists in the use of newly designed antisense oligonucleotides delivered through viral vectors, in animal and cell models of the disease. Our group has recently used a similar approach as potential treatment for SOD1-linked ALS (Biferi et al, 2017; Prize4Life – Treatment prize).

We are seeking a candidate with a Ph.D. in any area of biomedical sciences, with a strong experience in molecular biology, cell biology and mouse experimentation. Experiences in pathophysiology of nucleotide repeat expansion diseases and genome instability will be an advantage.
