Nous avons la tristesse d’annoncer le décès brutal de Mme Fabienne Rolling qui nous a quittés le 27 mai 2023. Madame Rolling, directrice de recherche INSERM, a effectué pendant plusieurs années des travaux scientifiques dans le domaine de la thérapie génique de la rétine à Nantes (France). Elle a été pionnière en lançant l’un des premiers essais cliniques de thérapie génique en France, en partenariat avec le service d’ophtalmologie du CHU de Nantes. Nous saluons une carrière remarquable, une intégrité scientifique sans faille et une volonté à toute épreuve pour que les premiers patients puissent bénéficier de ces traitements innovants issus de sa recherche. Nous rendons hommage à une personnalité qui aura marqué le domaine de la thérapie génique, et contribué aux avancées mondiales de ces médicaments innovants.
We are deeply saddened to share the news of the sudden loss of Dr. Fabienne Rolling who passed away on the May 27th 2023. Dr. Rolling, a research director at INSERM, carried out pioneering work on retinal gene therapy in Nantes (France). Her work led to one of the first gene therapy clinical trials in France with the ophthalmology department at Nantes University Hospital. Her impressive career was guided by absolute scientific integrity and a drive to ensure that patients should be the first to benefit from the latest innovations in medical research. We pay tribute to a remarkable woman whose impact in the biomedical field was profound, and who ensured that our world could benefit from the best of gene therapy.
