Valerie Dardalhon

Valerie Dardalhon, PhD is a tenured scientist since 2012 at the Institut de Génétique Moléculaire de Montpellier. She studied at the university of Montpellier, and did her PhD on the homeostasis of human T cells and the development of gene-transfer therapies. She elucidated the roles of multiple factors in T effector differentiation and identified the Th9 effector subset on the basis of its secretion of IL-9, showing the role for TGF-b in their differentiation while a postdoc in Vijay Kuchroo’s laboratory in Boston (2002-2009). She then joined Naomi Taylor’s team “Hematopoiesis and Immunotherapy” to focus on the role of metabolism in immune cell function and differentiation. She has been particularly interested in studying how metabolic transporters and nutrients impact on the differentiation of T cell effector subsets and immune responses in several contexts including T-cell based anti-tumor immunotherapies
