She runs laboratory and clinical research programs at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, NIH. She has been elected to the National Academy of Medicine. She serves as current Secretary of the American Society of Hematology and as past President of the American Society for Cell and Gene Therapy, and as Editor-in-Chief of Blood.
