Nuria Montserrat

Dr. Montserrat research is focused in understanding the molecular mechanisms leading to organ regeneration together with the development of basic knowledge in the field of pluripotent stem cells (PSCs). Her expertise in the fields of somatic reprogramming and organ regeneration helped her to develop a massive project selected for funding from the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) within the call of ERC Starting Grant from 2014 and ERC Consolidator Grant 2020. Dr. Montserrat first established as Junior Group leader at the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), becoming ICREA Research Professor and senior group leader from 2019. Her laboratory is focused on the development of organoid models to understand tissue development and human disease, with a particular focus in kidney, retina and cardiac systems.
