Greg Newby

Johns Hopkins University

Greg Newby is a faculty member in the Department of Genetic Medicine at Johns Hopkins University since 2023. His research focuses on the development and application of genome editing technologies to address genetic disease. During his postdoctoral fellowship with David Liu at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, Greg contributed to related research targeted to correct models of sickle cell disease, cystic fibrosis, blindness, cardiomyopathy, epidermolysis bullosa, progeria, and neurological disease. Greg completed his PhD in Biology at MIT studying protein aggregation under the guidance of Susan Lindquist and Mo Khalil, and his undergraduate studies in Biological Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University. Greg was a Fulbright Scholar to Switzerland, where he studied for one year in the laboratory of Andreas Plueckthun at the University of Zurich.
