University of Zurich

Gerald Schwank is a Professor at the University of Zurich, specializing in translational genome editing. After pioneering genome editing in patient-derived stem cell organoids during his postdoc, he founded his lab in Zurich in 2015. His team develops in vivo base- and prime-editing approaches to treat genetic disorders, and integrates artificial intelligence and directed protein evolution to further optimize genome editing tools. His research is supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the European Research Council.
